Steve Biggs

Skiing for me is the best thing in the world, and I feel incredibly lucky that I can share my passion with people every day in such a beautiful part of the world! I love teaching all ages and levels (although especially children), and really enjoy seeing and helping people progress towards and reach their goals, no matter what it requires or how long it takes!

I started skiing in Wengen, Switzerland when I was three years old and after years of ski holidays, finally took the plunge into the amazing world of instructing. After multiple seasons throughout Switzerland in Wengen and Verbier and in New Zealand in Wanaka, I’m now in stunning Zermatt to work for Summit.

In the summer

Pre covid, I spent five years working as a sea kayak guide / coach in Switzerland and around Europe. Last summer, I worked as a camp counsellor and sports coach at a kids outdoor summer camp in Gstaad.

My Zermatt insider tip is:
Ski the yellow runs, best runs in the resort and there’s no one on them.
If I wasn't a Summit instructor:

Something outdoors for sure…I need mountains and the ocean in my life! If it couldn’t be ski based, I can think of worse ways to fill my days than by kayaking or paragliding!

3 reasons to ski with me:

1. First and foremost, skiing and a lesson should be fun (you’re on holiday after all!). I’ll make sure we don’t loose sight of that during our time together!

2. Everyone wants something different from a ski lesson…whether that’s making your first turns, polishing your technique after years of skiing, seeing the sights and finding somewhere great for lunch or getting some photos, I’ll find the way to help you achieve your goals!

3. Teaching skiing is the best job I could imagine…even when it’s cold and windy, I’ll still be super enthusiastic and full of energy, excited for our lesson!
