After being bitten hard by the ski bug at 9, it took until my gap year after college, lost and searching for meaning (‘oh woe is me’), to realise that ski instructing was an actual career option. Filled with childish glee and excitement I jumped at the opportunity to do my first instructor exams, and after discovering a true passion for teaching I haven’t looked back since.
For the last 5 Winters I have been traveling, training and teaching in different resorts and countries around Europe. All the while improving my skills as an instructor and skier, meeting incredible people and creating wonderful memories along the way.
In the summer months I trade in my skis for a wine glass. I know what you’re thinking but fear not, I don’t spend my summers as a raging alcoholic (for the most part). I work as a wine merchant and importer for my family business, which has been around for 130 years. I’m also a keen drummer and I love writing and performing music with a few friends and groups back in the UK.
Thank you for such a wonderful time! We truly had fun skiing with you the past week.
My instructor was very friendly and patient. She taught me to work on something specific despite being part of a group lesson, which I found very helpful. Paul was very informative and helpful and answered my e-mail enquires quickly.
Thank you for all the help when booking, it was made very easy with the email correspondence and flexibility with booking and times etc.
Nikola, your receptionist with whom I dealt both via. e-mail & in resort was fantastic. Very helpful in explaining our options and helping us get the best out of our booking during the week when it was necessary to be flexible because of the conditions.
The person we spoke to made was careful to understand our skiing level and what we were looking for, so we ended up with an instructor who was appropriate to our needs.
I am particularly grateful to Hannah for having recommended Faye to be my granddaughter, Nina's, instructor. Nina had had a bad experience with another ski school in Zermatt and Faye's friendly, gentle professionalism helped put Nina back on the right track!
3 reasons to ski with Sam
Whether you’ve come to me for a full on technical ski session, a food and drinking guide to take you to every restaurant on the mountain or even just someone to geek out with about TV shows and movies for a few hours, my lessons are catered to and for you. As long as you leave the mountains with a smile on your face, raring to come back, ill be a happy guy.
Whatever age, ability or confidence level you are, it is my pleasure and passion to create a fun, safe and friendly environment for you to thrive and most of all enjoy your skiing experience.
In my other life i’m a wine merchant…. come on…. let me find you the right bottle and we can lounge on a terrace, enjoy those views and ponder the big questions. ha ha 🙂
