About Zermatt

Zermatt’s location offers an Alpine experience like few other resorts. Whilst the magnificent Matterhorn dominates the skyline, 38 of Switzerland’s 4000 metre peaks also surround the town. The views from the tops of all the ski lifts (the main lifts up can also be used by non-skiers) are fantastic and are worth the price of the ski pass alone.

The Village

Although the village is car-free, getting around is easy with a free bus service and lots of electric taxis to hand. Alternatively, take a horse drawn sleigh for a romantic view if the resort.

Zermatt boasts a wide range of excellent hotels and restaurants. From basic B&Bs to luxury five star hotels, from fondue to sushi, there is something to suit every taste and budget.

The main street offers a host of shops. Alongside the traditional watches and cuckoo clocks, you can find everything from designer clothing to kitchenware.

The Ski Area

The natural skiing paradise offers skiing 365 days a year on some of the highest pistes in Europe. For many generations, Zermatt has been a mecca for skiing and enthusiasts and has become famous for the high level of skiing terrain and mountain restaurants (widely regarded to be the best in the world).

The Zermatt ski area offers something for everyone. Complete beginners will enjoy the sunny ‘Wolli Park’ at Sunnegga. A perfect place to start your ski career to the tunes of the lift operators turned DJs.

For intermediate skiers, there are cruisy blue runs to challenging reds throughout the resort.

Advanced skiers have many black runs to choose from and the yellow ‘itinerary’ runs offer a test for even the most experienced skiers. The moguls of Stockhorn and Triftji are especially reknowned as the place to find the hard core experts.

From the top of the Klein Matterhorn (the highest ski lift in Europe offering one of the best views in the Alps) you can ski down to the Italian resort of Cervinia. Another huge selection of pistes to explore along with the traditional Italian cuisine.
