Jamie Young

Growing up in Reading, England all they would have said is “he likes cheese and onion crisps and supports Reading FC.”

Luckily I found skiing! Since then I have always enjoyed travelling to the mountains and exploring different sceneries.

I have been skiing since I was 8 years old with my grandparents and parents. From the age of 18 I have been teaching in places such as Italy, Japan, and Switzerland where I have now been for the last 7 years. I am proud to hold the BASI Level 4 ISTD and the Swiss Brevet as my qualifications.

Zermatt is the ultimate ski resort, one of the reasons why I am now living here year around.

Unfortunate fact about me – I was once picked in a live show to be part of the dolphin show and was to scared to go…how times have changed!

I am teaching – making most of the ski options in Zermatt 365 days a year.

In addition to teaching, I also work for a chalet company helping with the day to day running of the business. Trying to get a climb, SUP down the valley or a little weekend Italian adventure in.

My Zermatt insider tip is:

A cheeky ski lesson at the start of the week can change your holiday, from getting back into the swing of skiing, avoiding lift lines and knowing the best time to ski different runs. Also finding out where to eat, where to drink and where to party! We know it all and live it everyday.

If I wasn't a Summit instructor:

I would be a fruit salesman or a bookie at the races. Loud, fun and I love a good deal….

3 reasons to ski with me:

1.You will not be bored during a ski lesson with me. I always try my outmost to make our time together fun and unforgettable

2. I am patient and will always make your safety come first

3. Skiing with me is like the one show: Interesting, informative, fun, cultured and like the one show you never know what is coming next.
