Beating the skiing nerves?
So the winter is fast approaching and with so much snow falling all over the Alps in the last couple of days, plenty of people will be itching to get out here and ski their first runs of the winter. But we know that not everyone counts the days until their ski holiday.
For some, skiing is more nerve-racking than enjoyable.
Whether you are coming back from injury or have never really felt that love for skiing that other people magically seem to feel, you don’t need to approach the slopes with a feeling of apprehension.
Here are a few tips that we can offer to deal with skiing nerves:
1. Start easy - begin the week skiing well within your comfort zone and only think about moving to the ‘next level’ when you are ready.
2. Improve and build confidence in your technique – the more you trust your technical ability to deal with tricky situations the more you can relax and enjoy yourself.
3. Take the pressure off – do you feel like you always ski with a group of skiers who are better than you? Although it’s fun to ski with your friends or family, if you feel like you are holding them up or limiting the runs they can ski, it’s unlikely that you are going to relax and enjoy your skiing. Try to spend at least a day with skiers of your own ability while you get your confidence back.
Skiing is great fun, whatever your level. Your ski holiday is just that… a holiday, so we hope you can relax and enjoy it.
